12th March - Ski TouringBlue skies and good snow up high has meant ski touring has been great all week. Fresh tracks down Glacier Mort, Col d'Otanes at
Le Tour and a great tour in Italy from Arpe. Weather forecast has SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!!!
27th February - Grand MontetsYesterday we managed to get a couple of tops in at
Grand Montets with Sauze. The previous day we had some reservations for the top but alas a 4 hour power cut saw every lift at Grand Montets grind to a halt fully loaded. Fortunately we had our feet on the ground so went to seek alternative entertainment.
Snow on the glacier was great though slightly wind affected where it was completely untracked.
20th February - SnowThis morning after overnight snowfall the garden at the chalet has 3 snowmen, and it is still snowing.
4th February - Influx for the weekendSki Breezy is now open for flexi breaks and long weekend enquiries. People arriving all day today for the weekend. Check out the
Lastminute Offers. Snow still good on upper slopes and unlike most resorts
CHAMONIX guarantees the opening of more than 80% of all ski areas to allow beginners to advanced skiers to taste the joys of skiing.
23rd January - Sleep RequiredJust had a fairly full on skiing and Party week as we had a 40th Birthday group in all of whom were friends. No new snow in the week but we made the best of what was there. Courmayeur is still in great condition as are the upper slopes in
Chamonix. Lower slopes are getting icy although the freezing cold temperatures is keeping the off piste snow grippy on the North facing slopes.
14th January - Valley BlancheBreezy and I managed to sneak in a VB after shopping. High winds at the top and down the ridge (which is now equipped). Fresh tracks in powder down the Petit Envers. No tracks through to Salle a Manger so into the exit couloirs behind the Refuge. Lots of groups with
Guides. Great day out.
New Years Day @ Grands MontetsNot crowded and great chalky snow all the way down the glacier from the top. Pistes have taken a beating with the traffic recently and are hard but the off piste is grippy.
29th December - New Year WeekStable weather and cold temperatures have kept the snow conditions good. Today the addition of blue sky has meant that the car parks at
Le Brevent and Grands Montets have been closed to traffic except buses. The influx of
skiers and snowboarders from outside the valley means that traffic (and parking) is gonna be hell.
Happy New Year to All!!!
24th December - White ChristmasAfter a couple of days of blue sky, warm temperatures and Foehn wind, it is snowing for Christmas. Pistes are still in great condition and the off piste is firm and chalky snow. Merry Christmas!
17th December - More Fresh SnowCleared 20cm off the drive of the
Chalet this morning and had fresh tracks at
Grands Montets. Temperatures have been baltic all week.
Le Tour, Le Brevent and La Flegere all open for the season tomorrow. Lots of fresh tracks to be had!!!
10th December - Grands MontetsGM is still the only domain open in the valley during the week and the snow both on and off piste is good. All other domains opening 18th Dec. Awesome sunset over Mont Blanc.
4th December 2010 - Our 1st day outBlue sky powder at
Grands Montets, a week of snow and no lifts open meant party time! Base is a bit thin in places and there are still some rocks to be covered but the snow was great, even if the legs were complaining. GM open every day now and
cheap lift tickets too.
3rd December 2010 - Snow everywhereAlthough
Grands Montets was partially open last weekend we only arrived in town on Sunday eve. Its been snowing most of the week and this weekend GM is open €25/day and
Les Houches is partially open (2 weeks early). Forecast is good so plenty of fresh tracks to be had.
