Almost Spring skiing conditions

Apparently we have experienced an “unusually strong northward bulge in the jet stream that’s to blame (or credit) for the warm spell” recently which resulted in rather a lot of rain. The rain/snow limit was somewhere about 2300m and can now be seen by the rivulets in the snow. Temperatures last night dropped below zero in town which is great for the snowpack generally but not so great for those walking the pavements.

The good news is that there is additional snow on the horizon for both Chamonix and Courmayeur. Yesterday the clouds broke up and revealed the Aig du Midi and today the sun shone all day. At Brevent and Flegere the warmth gave some suprising spring skiing conditions off piste. The Chamois were also out enjoying the sun in the area below the liaison lift between Brevent and Flegere.
