Climbing Hiking and Biking.
With glorious weather activities of choice have changed too. The lifts remain closed so walking up the hill with skis on your back to reach the snow limit seems like hard work. Instead we have opted to get the climbing kit and the mountain bikes out and explore on foot.
So far
- climbing at the roadside crag of Les Gaillands in Chamonix and a visit to a crag the other side of the Petit Bargy (before the 10km lockdown)
- walks in the woods and up to Le Brevent to check out the snow
- the via chordee up to the Montenvers – a 600m rock scramble
This morning there is snow on the ground so the skis may get another outing.
- Beyond the Chain D’Aravis there is a small ski area below the Petit Bargy. Amazing rock formations look like a monster.
- The Aig du Midi from our apartment. This view changes every day with the light and the clouds.
- Having walked up under the pylons of the lift, there was plenty of snow up the hill and only 3 ski tracks
- A 600m rock scramble up the ridge from the ski de fond area of Chamonix to wards the Montenvers.
