Subject to permissions the architect responsible for the Shard in London may be rebuilding the lift at Grands Montets, Chamonix. Work will start in 2022 and is scheduled for completion in 2025. The works are envisaged to take 9 months, however building at 3,300m can only take place for 3 months of the year.
The Cable car station at Lognon was badly damaged by fire in September 2018.
In March this year the Compagnie du Mont Blanc said that it would be a cable car from the valley floor to the mid station and then gondola style with detachable cabins for 20-25 people for the upper section.
