Getting from Geneva and getting about Chamonix Valley

Car Hire

Chamonix Valley has 5 main different ski areas and I would strongly advise that hiring a car at Geneva airport would give you much more flexibility whilst staying in Chamonix. This means you can go to and from the slopes when you want rather than having to wait for buses or trains. There is parking at the bottom of all the ski areas.

Having a car will also enable you to maximise your ski time and give you the opportunity of a day trip to Courmayeur in Italy which is included on your ski pass. With the MBU Pass you can get a reduced rate for the Mont Blanc tunnel. If weather conditions are poor in the valley having a car also enables you to take a trip to Mégève or Les Contamines and not miss out on a days skiing.

Getting around without a car means using the buses or the train, both of which are less than five minutes walk from the chalet. Buses run to all the ski domains every 10 or 15 minutes during peak times, less in the middle of the day. The train goes to Flegere, Grand Montets and Vallorcine (to access the back of Le Tour). If you wish to go through to Courmayer there is a  bus  which leaves the main train station in Chamonix at set times.  This used to be free but now sadly you have to pay for it.

Airport Transfers

There are many airport transfer companies which run between Geneva airport and Chamonix who will drop you off at the chalet. Prices vary from 40€ each way.

There are also bus services which are more ecconomical but drop you at the Bus Station at Chamonix Sud. This is just over a 5 minute walk to the chalet.
