Summer Update Chamonix

Just back from a fabulous weekend in Chamonix for David and Asa’s wedding. Sitting above Montenvers looChamonix Weddingking down on the Mer de Glace as David and Asa walked down the path with bagpipes playing was just amazing and the sun shone too.

Chalet Extension Update

Chalet extensionPopped in to see the progress in the chalet and all is looking great.
For those of you who don’t know the chalet is being extended this summer. Main changes will be a huge extension to the living area, actually double the size of the last one. They have extended west into the garden still giving the great views of Mont Blanc. The downstairs double room now has an en suite bathroom.
We think that it will make a huge difference having so much more space in the living area for guests to relax in after a day on the hill.

Ski Pass Update

Other news is that the MBU pass this year also includes St Gervais and Megeve so this will be great for those bad weather days giving more options than just skiing the trees at Les Houches or the trees at Les Grands Montets or of course skiing a white out which is never much fun!  Al and I are looking forward to exploring these 2 resorts a bit more. Courmayeur and Verbier still on the MBU passes as well.

Breezy and Al’s News

Barn projectAl and I have had a great summer mainly in the Pyrenees with trips to Mallorca to climb, walk eat and sip some lovely Spanish wines. Had 2 trips over the border to Spain for some explores on foot. Aiguilles Tortes National Park is truly amazing with hundreds of lakes, granite peaks and nobody about perfecto! not forgetting sampling the tapas on the way back. Some adventures in the UK too with 4 days on the Gower Peninsula and 4 days in the Brecons and the sun shone for us too bonus!

The barn project 8 years down the line is actually nearly there…..bedrooms finished, tiles are down too and just the pantry and bathroom to go. So for the moment it is still outdoor showers or dips in the river in the summer months! A bit chilly now for that.
As usual spent a fair bit of time trying out new recipes for the winter and this summer we have been making lots of jams, preserves and chutneys from all the garden produce for guests this winter. Al and I will be back to the chalet end of November after our last month here in the Pyrenees and then some time in the UK catching up with family and friends. By then we will be itching to get those skis back on our feet again!
See you all in the snow!
