This season Christmas and New Years Day fall on a Monday. As most weekly accommodation runs from Saturday to Saturday this means you can get away and straight in to the festivities. Ski Breezy normally runs from Sunday to Sunday but for this Christmas and New Year we are opting for the Saturday changeover as well. Then from 6th January we revert back to Sunday to Sunday.
As most companies change on the Saturday then the Sunday is a super busy day on the slopes and Saturday is quite quiet. Couple that with the fact that the Swiss shop on Saturday and ski on Sunday, there is normally an influx of day visitors on the Sunday.
UK and French half terms are due to start on the 10th February so the slopes can be quiet before that date if you can manage it. And Easter is relatively early in 2024 falling in the first half of April. This winter the UK actually get their Easter holiday in before the French which is good news for lifts staying open.
As for what’s happening in Chamonix. Both Alison Thacker and Mark Gear are running their range of off piste skiing courses again. Have a look at the events diary for dates and prices. These are always popular and several of our guests have joined them to hone their skills. We also pick up some of their clients choosing the chalet for accommodation.
The Chamonix Unlimited Music Festival is still to be confirmed but keep an eye on social media as it was the beginning of April last winter and was super popular. There is a new website for Chamonix music dance and arts events at https://chamlive.com, take a look and see what’s on when.
With the world cup coming to Chamonix Valley on the 3rd and 4th of February this will bring with it a volume of spectators. However the additional folk are there to watch so it has greater impact on difficulty of reserving a restaurant rather than numbers of skiers on the hill. Other than that there is no Winter Olympics or World Championship contest this winter.
Ski Pass wise, for those interested in annual or season ski passes the best deals are available between the 2nd and 13th of October 2023. That is when the Compagnie du Mont Blanc give their best Early Bird discount.
