We just had to profit from the glorious sunshine. Plus get up high where there is still some snow which has not been transformed in the heat of the sun. Destination Col D’Entreves.
Setting off from the Aiguille du Midi down the ridge, we skied down the classic Vallee Blanche to the base of Mont Blanc du Tacul where we donned skins. Taking a middle line through the crevasses of the Glacier du Tacul was spectacular with snow bridges between huge crevasses.
The ski down was great with good snow most of the way down to where we joined the Vallee Noire under the Glacier du Geant.
The walk out the bottom to access the steps gets a little longer each day as the snow is gradually melting away in the heat.
