The sun has shone relentlessly for a while now. More snow is due tonight and the weather is unstable for the next week.
The north facing ski domain of Grands Montets has kept lovely chalky snow all through the sunny spell, though the south facing slopes of Brevent and Flegere have seen spring conditions with melt in the afternoons and refreezing overnight.
We have been heading up the Aiguille du Midi and ski touring over to the Helbronner for coffee. The coffee is great and inexpensive and we have been building up some fitness at the same time. The skiing down the Vallee Noir has also been in brilliant condition with chalky snow and no bumps. The 517 steps from the ice cave at Montenvers up to the gondola to reach the train have assisted with the fitness regime.
