Not a bad start to the winter season.
First day opening at La Flegere and the car park was full by 0930. Minus 8 degrees, blue sky and untracked snow everywhere. There were a few people skiing the pistes down to the lower chairlifts. The pistes were in amazing condition. The other 500 people were in a cluster at the bottom of the Index lift waiting for it to open.
By the time we had done a few warm up runs on the pistes the crowd had dispersed and spread themselves thinly all over the side of the mountain. At the top of the index the wind was fair chilly and odd patches of windslab off piste were hiding, waiting to trip up the unwary skier and snowboarder. It made some very entertaining scenes when traveling up the lift. Most of the snow was glorious powder snow. That with the sunshine made a rather nice Sunday.
