We managed to wrangle our day off to coincide with a friend’s Birthday celebration with a stay at Chalet de Loriaz. We ski toured up in the snow through the trees in the afternoon and stayed at the refuge. After a hearty meal and a sleep we headed up the hill again for about half an hour to ski fresh powder down past the hut and on down through the trees (thanks to David at the top of the road for hints on the route).
The sun broke through on the Friday morning to reveal the mountains from a completely new perspective.
Felt totally recharged as if we had got away for a couple of days out of the valley. A grand day out!
