The whole Christmas and New Year thing has been a little mad this year with people arriving and leaving all over the place due to the dates falling over the weekends. Although the skiing and boarding has been limited in terms of the slopes that are open, generally the snow conditions have been OK. We expected the pistes to have got quite icy over the festive period purely down to the amount of traffic on restricted slopes but we have been pleasantly surprised.
Courmayeur has got more slopes open than Chamonix nad peak periods have seen intense traffic through the tunnel. That should ease now that we head into January. Le Brevent and La Flegere have had amazingly good snow and fewer visitors than Grands Montets which has stayed cold and got icy in places.
The good news is that weather is on the horizon as well as on everybody’s lips. Lets see what happens!
