Sunshine has featured quite heavily recently. Today was no exception. Three of us set off from the Aiguille du Midi to ski tour over to Helbronner and have a coffee in the restaurant at the top of the Skyway. It is an amazing lift station and gives magnificent views of Mont Blanc. It was blowing a gale at the top and the shelter of the building was most welcome.
The descent was brilliant with all the recent tracks filled in with wind blown snow. Down the Vallee Noir to Salle a Manger is still in great condition. The walk out along the moraine to access the steps up to Montenvers is gradually getting longer and wetter as the snow is slowly disappearing from the Mer de Glace.
