Crochues Berard Ski Tour from La Flegere

On Saturday we left the lift system behind in La Flegere and headed up over the Col Crochues.  Every turn on the ascent seemed to have a skitourer spread eagle on their face trying to regain the track.  Clouds were swirling and threatening to envelope the Aiguille Rouges but they held off and provided some spectacular mountain scenes.

The crowds dispersed after the first ascent as different groups headed their different ways.  We went simple and opted for the Col de Berard. The descent was fairly well skied with patches of untracked sugary snow.  The track out to Buet was fast with avalanche debris in unexpected places to negotiate.  All in all a grand day out!
