Grands Montets Opening Day
Saturday 20th December and the lifts have finally opened at Grands Montets. Limited opening due to the poor snow coverage but the Top lift was open as well as the Bochard and the Marmatons lift. We met some friends who were riding the top lift and the snow was said to be great. We rode the Bochard to get our legs going. The piste was somewhat narrower than it is normally but first thing in the morning it was in quite good condition. There were a handful of tracks off-piste but there were also a lot of rocks showing. Unfortunately it is the rocks that aren’t showing that are the ones to avoid and I suspect there are an awful lot out there.
General comment is that it was good early; later on it would get more skied off especially with the expected volume of traffic over Christmas and the reduced width of the pistes. Get out there early!
