Yesterday saw about 50cm of fresh snow in Chamonix. Unfortunately it was accompanied by high winds. The new dump has certainly freshened up all the pistes in the valley. The off piste at Domaine de Balme today was heavy and on the north facing slopes it was very wind affected. This did not deter the snowboarders throwing themselves off wind lips for nice soft landings but it was difficult for the skiers.
The light went flat early in the afternoon as the sky became overcast and more snow is forecast overnight tonight.
