Due to some world events, it’s been over two years since we have ventured down the Vallee Blanche. As last summer was so hot we had some reservations and anticipation.
We let the rush go and set off about 11am. The ridge was a wide easy track, well protected with hand lines. Once we had changed from crampons to skis the initial slopes were soft spring snow giving way to chalky wind blown in. Our route was the main tourist route as we wanted to get to see the other routes from below and recce the ski touring route up to the top of the Skyway lift.
Although a lot has changed over the couple of years the scenery is just as amazing as ever. We had a lovely laid back trip down the vallee blanche in glorious sunshine.
